Does anyone know any ways to protect social security number?
By karen | March 5, 2008
Hello everybody, I have been using my social security number
for my taxation purposes. But, I have been recently intimidated by my lawyer
that since the crime of identity theft has been on the high I should be careful
in using it. I am really concerned about this and need to know whether there
are any ways by which we can protect them.

Well, the one place you MUST use your SSN is in dealing with the IRS and the federal government, so what I use to protect my SSN (as all my personal identifying information) is by subscribing to iDefend.
Highly recommended! You should investigate all you can the costs and benefits of the different approaches and then subscribe. Whatever you do, however, don’t sucker for LifeLock’s misleading-to-the-point-of-being-false advertising! Look into that too.

Dave
