Help! My wallet is stolen

By karen | March 4, 2008

I know that this is not going to help me right now as I am
already a victim of theft. My wallet has been stolen and I have lost all my
important documents that even included my financial details. I fear that they
may be used to make my accounts drain. I have already taken the necessary steps
for this but this is going to be a real danger in future as it is sometimes too
late and by that time everything is gone. I wanted to know that if there are
any pre-steps that we can take in case of wallet theft?

    Protection

Hi, Jenith - what I would recommend when your wallet is lost or stolen (or even before that) is to get comprehensive Identity Theft protection under a co-op type of plan from a company named INVISUS Direct. They’re not as well known as Lifelock or some of the others, but they have, in partnership with NIDR, the best, most comprehensive Identity Protection you can find.

If you sign up before you know your identity is stolen, then for $29.99 and $14.99 / month you can get the peace of mind of knowing that they will do whatever it takes to recover your identity on your behalf and that you won’t have to go through the hell of trying to do it all yourself. It’s well worth having that kind of coverage even if you HAVEN’T lost your wallet. I cover my whole family with the protection from INVISUS Direct (which is only $24.99 for the family plan). Small price to pay for peace of mind.

The only downside to INVISUS Direct is that you have to know someone who’s already a subscriber to sign up yourself. I believe Karen can vouch for anyone who’s interested to get you signed up.

    Good luck!
